Current Opportunities

Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated electrical engineer.  This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and able to work independently.  You will be responsible for leading the overall electrical engineering design process, developing the design from concept through construction, coordination with the client, utilizing and coordinating internal resources and representing the firm to the client team.

Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Preparation and/or modification of electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations
  • Review of electrical design work and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Providing construction administration services.
  • Construction site visits and field reports to manage projects and control construction problems and/or issues.
  • Ensure proper interdisciplinary coordination and effective communication on projects.
  • Analyze reports, drawings, tests and other data to plan and design work.

 

Job Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS in Architectural or Electrical Engineering
  • 8 years minimum experience
  • Autodesk Revit experience preferred
  • Experience with the design of lighting, power, life safety, and data/telecom and systems.
  • EIT or PE preferred
  • LEED Accreditation a plus

 

Director of Mechanical Engineering

Our Richmond, VA office is seeking a Mechanical Department Head to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. Our Mechanical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building related projects including corporate, healthcare, higher education, private K-12 schools, local/state government, and multi-family using Revit and AutoCAD software.

Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Train, mentor and direct staff in developing mechanical drawings and specifications for mechanical designs.
  • Monitoring, coaching and developing Mechanical Engineering team members.
  • Delegate work according to project priorities, technical challenges and contractual milestones
  • Plan and maintain project budgets and schedule planning activities with team and project managers.
  • Attend and lead progress and technical meetings, discuss and suggest technical proposals.
  • Take part in project and risk management reviews.
  • Provide technical support for all teams and resources in the firm for all projects with mechanical design work.
  • Other duties shall be:
    • Review and coordination of mechanical engineering design submittals from contractors, as well as following up site supervision, design conflicts and variation orders for the client.
    • Review technical submissions and design layouts as well as material submittals from contractors.
    • Review and approve the shop drawings, Material Submittals with respect to the project Specification and Standards of practice submitted by contractors.
    • Support review of subcontractors’ invoices, when required for technical assistance.
    • Documenting project issues/conditions.
    • Maintaining organized and detailed project records.

 

Job Skills/Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • LEED certification / experience is a plus
  • Minimum 15-20 years design experience
  • Knowledge in the design of all HVAC systems air and hydronic
  • Knowledge and understanding of all current mechanical codes, standards, and design guidelines.
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work.
  • Ability to supervise a department and have them work as a team.
  • Ability to work with project managers who are scheduling the work from our clients.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office

 

Project Manager

Our Richmond, VA office is seeking a Project Manager to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. Our Project Managers manage and develop client relationships while planning, coordinating, and executing projects.

Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Manage a multi-discipline team of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers
  • Establish and maintain client relationships with open communication at all times
  • Communicate transparent details from the client to the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design team members
  • Organize and commence weekly internal meetings to discuss plan of action for all projects being managed
  • Coordinate Quality Control site visits
  • Establish and monitor hours and budgets
  • Review and approve team time sheets
  • Advise Accounting Department of specific billing details and dates to ensure a seamless billing process
  • Attending marketing events or other business development opportunities for new projects or clients

 

Job Skills/Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:

  • Previous experience managing MEP design projects (all phases) for corporate, healthcare, higher education, private K-12 schools, local/state government, and multi-family
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems required
  • Engineering or Project Management related degree and/or PMP Certification desire

 

Plumbing Designer

Our Richmond, VA office is seeking a Plumbing Engineer/Designer to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. Our Plumbing Engineers/Designers focus primarily on the design of building related projects including corporate, healthcare, higher education, private K-12 schools, local/state government, and multi-family using Revit and AutoCAD software. 

Typical duties may include but not be limited to:

  • Designing plumbing systems for various commercial buildings
  • Development of system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
  • Preparation of detailed design documents
  • Specification writing/editing
  • Code compliance research
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines
  • Site survey to determine and document existing conditions
  • Providing construction administration services

 

Job Skills/Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office
  • LEED certification/experience is a plus.
  • Certified Plumbing Design and PE/EIT preferred
  • Familiarity with codes, standards and design guidelines
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude
  • Good communication and time management skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work
