Our firm provided design services for a 350,000 SF expansion and renovation of nearly all major departments in the hospital including a new Surgery Suite with 21 new operating rooms, new central sterile and materials handling areas, renovations to the central laboratory, food services, Critical Care Unit and related areas, and a 60,000 SF shell for a new Radiology and Imaging Suite. Also included was a major addition to the central energy plant and relocation of all underground utilities into a new tunnel through a complex utility phasing plan. Significant phasing issues were addressed to keep all existing operating rooms and sterile core in operation during construction.
Other projects at Lexington Medical Center include:
- Construction of a new MRI suite. Project required identifying and connecting to existing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/fire protection systems in the main hospital building. The project also required that all portions of the existing radiology department remain in operation during construction.
- Construction of a new heart catheterization suite. This project required identifying and connecting to existing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing/fire protection systems in the main hospital building. Project also required the addition of a new rooftop air handling unit and new telecommunications systems.
