Bob Lacy is a partner, project manager and the Director of our Institutional Design Group. He began work in the consulting engineering field as a draftsman in 1974, and has participated in most aspects of architectural engineering and civil engineering design. He has extensive experience in the design of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems for commercial, institutional, educational, and recreational facilities. He has been involved in energy conservation and life cycle costing analyses, as well as the design and application of energy recovery and thermal ice storage systems. Bob also has considerable experience in project management and in the administration of the HVAC construction review process. Other areas of expertise include medium pressure variable air volume systems, low temperature air and water systems, laboratory exhaust and ventilation, and high-rise smoke control applications. Bob received LEED Accreditation in 2005. He is active in ASHRAE and is Past President of the Richmond Chapter.
Bob is a native of Wytheville, Virginia where he met his wife and high school sweetheart Kathy. He received his BA in History from the University of Virginia and attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University School of Architecture. He also received his AAS in Design Technology from Wytheville Community College. When the weather is nice, Bob can often be found on his motorcycle enjoying the open road.
